Duo Dubois

The Duo Dubois was born in 2011 from the shared passion of two instrumentalists for contemporary music, Alberto Cavallaro (Saxophone) and Federico Tramontana (Percussion). Both from 1995, they attend Chamber Music courses at the Conservatory of Vibo Valentia where they have the opportunity to perform live for the first time and win the first competitions. The limited repertoire led the two musicians to reflect on the different perspectives that this kind of formation could take in the future and so, in 2018, thanks to the support of CIDIM, the Duo had the opportunity to collaborate for the first time with different composers with the goal of development of the repertoire. This project ended with Sùsu, the Duo’s first recording product dedicated to living Italian composers.
To this date, the Duo has performed about 14 new compositions written by composers such as: Maurizio Azzan, Maria Teresa Treccozzi, Maura Capuzzo, Andrea Nicoli etc.. For the next two-year period 20/22, the Duo has scheduled 12 new compositions and a monographic project on music written for saxophone and percussion by Stefano Gervasoni.
In the academic field, the Duo has been admitted to the Advanced Master in Contemporary Music at the KASK Conservatorium Gent, under the guidance of Tom Pawels and Tom De Cock, thanks to a research project that sees the use of easily transportable instrumentation as a topic for the next scheduled compositions.
The Duo is an active promoter of music written in the last decade.
